What is Anime? How can you differentiate your other auditions from this one? How do you handle the “beeps” and the technical aspects of this medium? So many good questions – and we’ve got your answers!
Join Counselor Brent Mukai, as he leads us in Scaling Mt. Anime! Brent has been in over FIFTY anime titles and has won the Society of Voice Arts Award for Outstanding Anime Character multiple times. So, yeah, he knows his stuff.
In this 3 week class, you’ll learn anime foundations, specific audition techniques, and ways to be a cut above the rest. Plus, we’ll end with a mock director’s session where we’ll bring in an engineer so you get real-world experience in dubbing for anime! It’s gonna be an action-packed session, only the fearless will apply!

Being a part of a cartoon series or animated film is amazing, but being successful in this world isn’t just about being able to do ‘funny voices’. There’s a delicate craft that needs to be honored and calibrated.
Coming in with a sense of play is the first step, and the rest is an exploration - so let’s explore together and dive into the work of an actor! Spelunking (noun) - the exploration of caves.
In this next animation challenge, we’ll be working on comedy skills and how to tap into heart + vulnerability to bring your 2-D characters to life! You’ll be given tools to examine scripts and learn how to paint the entire picture of the story the creators and writers are aiming to express through you, the actor.
Let’s go Spelunking into goof-town. It’s going to be an epic adventure!

It may be scary diving into the great unknown, but not if you’re well-equipped and ready for adventure!
This incredibly specific course dials into the heart of YOU. We’ll be asking you to create characters that can live in your arsenal for years to come. We’ll laser-focus in on 6-10 signature reads and explore whether you’re a versatile or utility actor - or both!
This course is more technical than most and holds a potent magnifying glass to the work, but you’ll be more than ready for the task. This is the deep blue where the big dawgs play – LFG!
